In Sanskrit "Namas" means,"bow, obeisance, reverential
salutation." It comes from the root Nam, which carries meanings
of bending, bowing, humbly submitting and becoming silent. "Te"
means "to you." Thus "namaste" means "I bow to you."
For, Hindu(s),the greeting of choice is "Namaste,"
the two hands pressed together and held near the heart with the
head gently bowed as one says, "Namaste." Thus it is both a
spoken greeting and a gesture
Perhaps the definition that resounds the most comfortably with me is as follows (and you will see it on many of our products)
"I honor the place in you where spirit lives. I honor the
place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light and of Peace. When you are in
that place in you and I am in that place in me, then we are One."
